English Learner Programs

BPUSD English Learner Programs
We are dedicated to ensuring every Baldwin Park student receives exceptional programs, the tools needed to learn effectively, and are assigned to highly qualified teachers. Upon school registration, parents are asked to complete a survey on the languages spoken at home. If a student speaks another language, they are given the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), as required by the California Department of Education.

English Learner Opportunities and Special Events
  • Achievement in English proficiency
  • District English Learner Advisory Committee
  • School support assistants (ELPAs) available for students
  • Senior Awards Night
Parents as our Partners
As we work with students we also work with their parents and they become our partners. Baldwin Park Unified has a dynamic District English Learner Advisory Committee.  This committee is a made up of one parent representative from each school site. These parents meet monthly to support us in overseeing our EL Programs.
