Joint Occupancy Update

District staff provided an update to the Asset Management Committee on the Former Pleasant View Elementary School site. The Committee’s recommendations were presented to the Board of Education in October of 2023. Staff has reviewed the options related to joint occupancy ground leases aimed at generating long-term revenue and developing an upgraded or new District facility at the site. Staff has since been authorized to seek joint occupancy ground lease proposals aimed at generating long-term revenue and developing an upgraded or new District facility on part of the site.

On August 12, 2025, the Board of Education reviewed a presentation on joint occupancy, and later approved the Resolution of Intention on October 14, 2025, to formally seek joint occupancy proposals for the Pleasant View property. The Committee will continue to be updated and involved in future community input sessions. A similar joint occupancy project is being considered for the former Heath Elementary school site, with a resolution expected to be reviewed on November 18, 2025. The Board of Education approved the Resolution of Intention for the former Heath Elementary school site at the November Board of Education meeting.

Other closed schools—Elwin and Central Elementary—are currently being used for District trainings, meetings, green space rentals, and short-term leases. The fields are still available for community sports rentals, and there are no new plans for these sites at this time.
