Superintendent's Welcome Back Message, 2025-2026

Dear Baldwin Park Unified Community,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I am excited to begin this new chapter alongside our incredible students, families, staff, and community partners. As we embark on this journey together, we do so with a renewed sense of purpose. While we continue to navigate changing and challenging times, our mission remains clear: to ensure high achievement for ALL learners and to support every family we serve.

Over the summer, District leadership and the Board of Education engaged in thoughtful review and reflection. We assessed our progress and identified key areas for growth by reviewing student performance outcomes and more than 5,000 survey responses, which included input from teachers, staff, parents, students, and community members. This collaborative process led to the adoption of three refreshed priorities for the year ahead:
  • Strengthen academic programs and incorporate essential life skills
  • Foster a safe, supportive learning environment built on strong school-family-community partnerships
  • Exercise fiscal prudence and maintain solvency amid changing and uncertain budget conditions

These priorities reflect our enduring commitment to student success, family engagement, and responsible stewardship of resources.

This school year, we are excited to introduce new opportunities and enhancements across our campuses. From the expansion of Digital Arts with Spyder Lab and Esports at Sierra Vista High School, to the installation of new playgrounds and significant infrastructure upgrades, our schools are evolving to meet the needs of our students. We are also pleased to welcome new leadership across several school sites. Additionally, we are proud to implement two new high school RISE Program teachers dedicated to Restorative, Intervention, Support, and Encouragement at Baldwin Park High and Sierra Vista High School. These educators will support students in developing social-emotional skills, addressing behavior concerns, and collaborating with service providers to ensure students receive the personalized support they need to succeed.

We recognize that the beginning of the school year can bring excitement, as well as uncertainty. Please know that our campuses continue to be inclusive, welcoming spaces where every student can learn, grow, and thrive in a secure and supportive environment.

Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and unwavering support of our students. Together, let’s make 2025–2026 a year of purpose, progress, and promise.

Sincerely,

Froilan N. Mendoza
