The ELA Elementary Committee selected TK-6th grade District Essential Standards, common assessments per trimester and revised the pacing guides. In addition, the committee selected core novels for grades three through sixth. They also started conversations on ELD standards and began selecting ELD assessments for some grade levels. The selection of the common assessments in Spanish is in progress.
The ELA Junior/Middle committee was very productive this summer. This committee selected core novels for each grade level. They revised the pacing guides and analyzed the common assessments for the three grade levels. Rich conversation occurred around the area of writing. The committee recommended that the teachers continue to use the writing components from the StudySync since it’s a fairly new program. In addition, an optional Write from the Beginning and Beyond training will be offered this school year for teachers interested in getting trained.
The ELA High School committee met August 6-8, 2018. Their focus was to revisit the essential standards, common assessments and pacing guides. In addition, they discussed how to differentiate lessons for Special Education and English Learners.
