The workshop, which explored the Response to Intervention (RTI) program’s multi-tiered system of instruction, was provided by internationally known educator Mike Mattos, one of the founding leaders of RTI and professional learning communities, a system fostering collaboration among teachers to improve student performance.
Baldwin Park Unified educators, who already employ RTI methods, are seeking to refine processes and obtain tools for handling challenges. The Jan. 23-24 workshops enabled the District to include a much larger group of educators than would have been possible by attending a conference and to tailor instruction to the needs of each school.
“This workshop exemplifies the dedication of our Baldwin Park team of educators, who are using every tool available to ensure all of our students succeed at every level of their education,” Superintendent Froilan N. Mendoza said. “Our folks left the workshops energized and with a host of new ways of strengthening their interactions with students.
