During the meeting, the Board completed its yearly organizational responsibilities, which included voting for officers and appointing members to represent the District on various committees.
The Board positions for 2026 are as follows:
- Board President: Norma Olmos
- Board Clerk/Vice President: Jose M. Mata, Ed.D.
- Board Members: John B. de Leon, Esq.; Yvonne S. Juarez; and Ricardo Vazques
President Norma Olmos, a 25-year Baldwin Park resident, longtime parent leader, and former Parks and Recreation Commissioner, brings decades of service on District committees, including DAC, DELAC, School Site Councils, and the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to her role.
Vice President Jose “Joey” M. Mata, Ed.D., a Sierra Vista High valedictorian and lifelong BPUSD alum with nearly 30 years of service as an educator, coach, principal, and advocate for equity, brings deep community roots and Districtwide leadership experience to the position.
Committee appointments include:
- Los Angeles County School Trustees Association Representative: Yvonne S. Juarez
- Los Angeles County Committee on School District Organization Representative: Ricardo Vazques
- San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupational Program Representative: Jose M. Mata, Ed.D.
- Community Collaborative Committee Representatives: Norma Olmos and Yvonne S. Juarez
Board member terms remain staggered, with John B. de Leon and Norma Olmos serving through 2026, and Yvonne S. Juarez, Dr. Jose M. Mata, and Ricardo Vazques serving through 2028.
