The graduation event was held on Thursday, June 5, at Ted K. Gorrell Stadium, and honored 240 students who received their diplomas. The evening began with a touching moment as the Lopez family led a dove release in memory of former Principal Eric D. Lopez, who passed away January 2025. The tribute honored Lopez’s legacy and deep connection to the school.
Principal Deborah Madrigal, who returned from retirement this year to serve as interim and now officially leads as principal, reflected on the special evening. “Mr. Lopez would be proud of you, your perseverance, and your accomplishments” she told the graduating class.
Graduates walked proudly across the field wearing regalia representing their achievements and involvement, including honors from the Dual Language Program, AVID, Career Technical Education (CTE), and other academic pathways.
The ceremony also highlighted the voices of outstanding student speakers:
• Mary Grace J. Calma, Valedictorian and QuestBridge Match Scholarship recipient, who plans to attend the University of Chicago
• Stacey D. Gutierrez Almaraz, Valedictorian
• Lisa W. Si, Salutatorian
Their speeches inspired classmates to look toward the future with ambition, resilience, and gratitude. “Once a Brave, always a Brave.”
Baldwin Park High School’s graduation celebrated not only academic success but also the strength, unity, and spirit of the Brave community.
