A Message from Baldwin Park Unified Regarding Hurricane Hilary

Dear Baldwin Park Unified Community,

We are aware of severe weather that is anticipated for Southern California beginning this Sunday, Aug. 20. Based on recent reports from the weather service and news outlets, Hurricane Hilary is anticipated to be downgraded to a tropical storm as it approaches our region.

Baldwin Park Unified is taking the necessary steps to ensure that our schools are able to weather this storm and are ready for learning next week.

Our principals and their administrative teams are aware of the anticipated inclement weather and are working with site personnel to prepare the campuses for a potential rain surge and possible strong winds.

We are also working closely with our District Maintenance and Operations team to ensure that campuses are prepared to minimize any impact.

Finally, we are working with school activities and athletic directors to ensure that our facilities are secured and safe. Activities and athletics schedules for next week will be evaluated based on actual weather conditions. We appreciate your flexibility on any adjustments that may be necessary to ensure the safety of our students.

As our students are our first priority, we will be actively monitoring the storm conditions over the weekend and will communicate with you further should we anticipate any impact on teaching and learning schedules next week.
