BPUSD, City Launch NextGen Youth Workforce Program

In partnership with the City of Baldwin Park, Baldwin Park Unified launched the NextGen Youth Workforce Program (NYWP), a job preparation opportunity for Baldwin Park residents between ages 14 and 24.

NYWP also is made possible by Goodwill Southern California, American Job Center, the Baldwin Park Business Association and other local businesses that provide hands-on work experience.

Through the year-long program, Baldwin Park Unified students and residents will be able to learn from professionals in a variety of fields with the potential of employment. More than 270 students are currently working in various industries, including Goodwill, Kaiser Permanente, Target, Home Depot and BPUSD.

At the District Administration Center, interns were selected to assist the Educational Technology and Support Services department to update the BPUSD website and create a new homepage video.

NYWP aims to provide 300 paid employment opportunities throughout the year.

“This is an exciting opportunity to provide Baldwin Park Unified students and residents, and we are extremely fortunate to have the outstanding partners to make NYWP possible,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said.
