School Reopening Plan
MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
For the majority of the 2020-21 academic year, Baldwin Park Unified School District students and families have been participating in distance learning. Now, we can begin the process toward reopening our TK-12 campuses for hybrid instruction, according to the March 9th announcement made by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH). BPUSD plans to resume in-person instruction and begin to welcome back students in mid-April. Our plan is evolving with built-in flexibility should the needs of our community change. The District aims to begin in-person instruction for interested students according to the following schedule:
BPUSD is working to ensure that the restart of school is safe and prioritizes student achievement, high quality instruction, and the health and well-being of all. We remain steadfast in our mission to educate our students and guide them as they discover their passions and pursue their dreams. Thank you for your patience and continued support as we navigate these unprecedented challenges together.
In closing, I hope that the opportunity for in-person instruction will provide an alternative to students who would benefit from additional support and guidance during this school year. BPUSD families will have the option to return to in-person instruction or remain in distance learning according to the preference they selected in December 2020, which schools will confirm in the next few weeks. Please note that your student(s) will continue to be enrolled in the same school/classroom for all learning models.
Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza, Superintendent
