Mrs. Diana Miranda-Dzib has been a resident of the city of Baldwin Park for over 30 years. She began her education at Charles Bursch Elementary School. Since 2004, she has served as the High School Programs Coordinator in the Adult Basic Education Department, Continuing Education Division, at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC). Prior to Mt. SAC, Mrs. Miranda-Dzib was employed by the Los Angeles County Office of Education as a certificated substitute teacher, where she worked to improve student achievement among probation youth.

Mrs. Miranda-Dzib holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California, as well as a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Juris Doctorate. In addition, she earned a certificate in Teaching Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Reading Certificate from USC Rossier School of Education. Mrs. Miranda-Dzib volunteers through the Los Angeles Superior Court as a surrogate, and advocates for the rights of special education students within the juvenile justice and foster care systems.

Ms. Miranda-Dzib and her husband have been married for over twenty years and have one son, who holds a Master's Degree from USC.

John Bernard de Leon is a lifelong resident of the city of Baldwin Park. He attended Kenmore and Tracy Elementary schools, Sierra Vista Junior High, and graduated from Sierra Vista High School. He has five children in total -- three school-aged children attending BPUSD schools. He currently works as an attorney for the State of California. Mr. de Leon previously worked as both a corporate legal and workers' compensation attorney for State Compensation Insurance Fund, as a Deputy Labor Commissioner for the Labor Commissioner's Office, as a solo practitioner representing individuals and small businesses, and as an associate attorney at Paul Hastings representing large, multi-national corporations. He currently serves as a board member of CASE -- California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers in State Employment.

Mr. de Leon holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.

As a Board Member, Mr. de Leon is committed to BPUSD's students and the success they will achieve as adults. He seeks to create BPUSD schools that provide increased learning opportunities for all students, including both college preparation and career technical education courses. Additionally, as a former member of the marching bands at Sierra Vista Junior High, Sierra Vista High, and the University of Southern California, he understands the value of the performing arts, athletics, and other extracurricular activities in creating well-rounded students.

Mr. de Leon strongly believes that as parents, families, and as a community, there is no greater cause than that of our children and their future. When we invest ourselves into their welfare, we all reap immeasurable rewards.

Santos Hernandez, Jr., Board Member

Board Member Hernandez is a former Baldwin Park Unified School District employee who retired with 33 years of dedicated service. He has been a resident of Baldwin Park for 14 years. Mr. Hernandez holds an Associate Degree in Chicano Studies from East Los Angeles College. Mr. Hernandez’ children attended Baldwin Park schools and he was an involved parent. He believes in the family unit and encourages parents to participate in their children’s education.

Mr. Hernandez completed the California School Boards Association’s Masters in Governance Series in 2016 to help him further develop strengths and knowledge as a member of the Board of Education.

Christina Lucero, Board Member

Ms. Christina Lucero is a resident of Baldwin Park. She has two daughters and four grandchildren. She has proudly served as a member of the Baldwin Park Unified School District Board of Education for a total of twelve years, including previous role as Board President. Ms. Lucero holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of La Verne.

Ms. Lucero has served as the Board’s representative to the San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupational Program/Technical Center and previously represented the BPUSD Board of Education to the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association. Currently, Ms. Lucero serves as a Delegate to the California School Boards Association. She has also completed the California School Boards Association’s Masters in Governance Program.

Her career in education includes many years of service to the Baldwin Park Unified School District while employed as the Home Liaison at Foster Elementary School, Assistant Director of Live Oak Canyon School (Non-Public School) in the city of Glendora, and as Managing Director for ABA Works/College Connect in the City of Covina.

As a Member of the Board of Education, Ms. Lucero strives to ensure that all students are provided a safe, clean and nurturing learning environment that promotes academic success. She truly believes that ALL students can and will succeed when given the tools, guidance and encouragement to do so. Special Education is very near and dear to her heart. She is a strong advocate and voice for those who are unable to express their needs.

She is an advocate for students and is very focused on District and Board goals and policies. It is her honor to represent the Baldwin Park Unified School District, its schools, students, teachers and staff. Ms. Lucero also advocates for mental health, knowing that mental well-being is as important as physical well-being and encourages everyone in our community to take care of their needs so that they may be whole.

Ms. Lucero would like to thank the Baldwin Park community for entrusting their children to our district and will continue to work hand in hand with other members of the Board of Education, Administration and teachers to provide the best possible learning environment and curriculum for our students.

Annalynn C. Apolinario, Board Member

Annalynn C. Apolinario has been a resident of the City of Baldwin Park for over 45 years. She is a product of the Baldwin Park Unified School District (BPUSD), having attended Tracy Elementary, Sierra Vista Middle, and Sierra Vista High School. She is a dedicated mother of three daughters, and one stepdaughter. Two of her children currently attend BPUSD schools. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with her daughters and actively engaging in the community.

Ms. Apolinario is currently employed as a patient advocate in the healthcare industry, driven by her passion for advocating for marginalized and underserved communities. Ms. Apolinario holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from California State University Los Angeles, Associate Degree in Administration in Criminal Justice from Mt. San Antonio College, and a CNA certification from a local nursing school.

Ms. Apolinario serves as the 2nd Vice President of the Baldwin Park Woman's Club. Additionally, she contributed to important initiatives such as the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) Annual Homeless Count, provided peer support as a Specialist for Domestic Violence Survivors through the California Mental Health Connection, represented her community at the 31st Congressional District Mental Health Consortium, and volunteered for Veteran home restoration and renovation projects. Her commitment to service also extends to Baldwin Park Council member Damian’s Annual Giving Thanksgiving Back Turkey Drive and Toy Drive, the BPUSD Citizens’ Oversight Committee on Measures K and AE, the Superintendent's Budget Advisory Committee, the Superintendent’s School Closure Committee, the District’s Re-Opening of Schools Task Force, involvement as an Orchestra Booster for Sierra Vista High School, and as a BPUSD school volunteer.

As a Member of the Board of Education, Ms. Apolinario hopes to cultivate a learning environment that is safe, equitable, and engaging. Her vision is to impart students with the skills and academic rigor essential to thrive as successful and productive members of society.
