PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT

TO THE GOVERNING BOARD OF EDUCATION

  

The public is hereby notified that the Governing Board of Education of the Baldwin Park Unified School District voted to fill, by provisional appointment pursuant to Education Code sections 5090-5095, the vacancy created by the passing of Board Member Deanna C. Robles.  
 
Eligible applicants were interviewed during a Special Meeting of the Board of Education held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. in the District Administration Center Board Room, located at 3699 N. Holly Avenue, Baldwin Park, CA.
 
The provisional appointment of Annalynn Apolinario became effective on Thursday, February 15, 2024. 
 
NOTICE: Unless a petition calling for a special election, containing a sufficient number of signatures, is filed in the Office of the County Superintendent of Schools within 30 days of the date of the provisional appointment, this appointment shall become an effective appointment. (Pursuant to Education Code section 5091 [c] [1], [2]) 
 
This notice will be posted in three public places:
District Administration Center, Public Library, City Hall, as well as in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. In addition, all schools will receive a posting copy of this notice.

Please take notice that the Board of Education of the Baldwin Park USD intends to fill the vacancy created by the passing of Board Member Deanna C. Robles by provisional appointment, pursuant to Education Code sections 5090-5095. Eligible persons wishing to be considered for appointment must submit a Board Candidate Information Sheet to the Office of the Superintendent. This form includes why the applicant desires to serve on the Board and what the applicant believes he/she could contribute to the Board of Education and Baldwin Park USD.

All forms must be received (not postmarked) by the Superintendent no later than Tuesday, February 13, 2024, by 9:00 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time). Any person is eligible to be a Board Member if he/she is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and not legally disqualified from holding civil office. A District employee elected or appointed to the Board shall resign his/her position before being sworn in or shall have his/her employment automatically terminated upon being sworn into office. Each eligible applicant shall have an opportunity to make an oral presentation to the Board of Education during a Special Board Meeting to be determined. Subject to Education Code Section 5091, any person appointed to fill the Board vacancy shall hold office only until the next regularly scheduled election for district governing board members, whereupon an election shall be held to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term through November 2026.
